Celanese offers a range of emulsion technology for EIFS. These emulsions find use in three important EIFS components: the bonding layer, the protective plaster layer and the finishing layer (Illustration 1). In the adhesive for the bonding layer and the protective plaster layer, Celanese vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) emulsions are the product of choice because they deliver strong adhesion and good cement compatibility. Ready-to-use EIFS coatings based on VAE emulsions offer a number of important performance advantages over traditional dry mineral binding systems.

When compared with other products for emulsions systems, Celanese VAE emulsions provide an environmentally sound alternative to other technologies because they reduce VOCs that are emitted by the EIFS materials.

In the finishing layer our emulsions offer an excellent weathering behavior – especially in UV-resistance and dirt-pick up – enhancing the appearance and durability of a broad range of coatings.
